Enamel is a combination of fused glass and steel: a durable and robust product.
It is ideal - even for allergy sufferers - as everyday tableware and for cooking and baking. The smooth, glass-like surface is food-safe, cut- and scratch-resistant, antibacterial, dirt-repellent and easy to clean. Standard kitchen utensils can be used for turning, stirring and cutting without damaging the enamel. Even in combination with alkalis and fruit acids such as lemon or vinegar, enamel does not release any substances and is completely neutral in taste. Enamel is recyclable and can be returned 100% to the material cycle.
Enamel production requires a great deal of experience, skill and craftsmanship. Some work steps can only be done by hand. This means that no two pieces are 100% the same. Small imperfections are a characteristic of the product and give each piece its individual character.
Unlike porcelain, glass or ceramic tableware, enameled tableware is not fragile. However, if the enamel is subjected to strong impacts or falls onto hard surfaces, the enamel layer may flake off.
